8.57pm Simply not good enough
Rovers sign off their away campaign with a defeat and deserved nothing more than they got.
They were so easily knocked off the stride in the first half and lacked the ingenuity to work their way back into proceedings.
There were aspects of tonight’s performance that mirrored some of those early in the season when opposition teams did good numbers on Rovers, coupled with a general sense of tiredness among the group.
8.55pm All over
And Rover are beaten 2-0 by Blackpool, who seal their place in the play-offs as a result
88min Chance for Rovers
Good work from Taylor Richards sees him win the ball back high up the pitch and feed in Matt Smith who lashes a shot to the near post which is batted away.
81min Great counter, poor finish
Rovers surged forward from half way after an interception from AJ Greaves, James Coppinger slid a lovely low pass out to Taylor Richards, who cut inside but smashed well over the bar.
79min GOAL Blackpool
Ellis Simms doubles his and Blackpool’s tally.
He was played into the box and saw a shot blocked by the chest of Louis Jones but recovered to poke in the rebound.
Game over.
78min Another close one
Blackpool are really piling on the pressure here as a small crowd of their supporters sing them on from outside the gate in the corner.
Embleton raced across the byline and drilled a low ball across but it was blokced out by Jones.
77min Great save
Luke Garbutt smashed a shot from the edge of the box that looked destined for the top corner until Louis Jones tipped the ball wide. Great stop.
75min Should be 2-0
Elliott Embleton really should have doubled Blackpool’s advantage.
A clearance from Rovers didn’t go too far after hitting the back of a Blackpool player with the ball falling to Embleton who fired well wide
