Only goal difference separates the two sides ahead of kick-off tonight with The Class of '92-owned Salford in 16th and Rovers one place below them after consecutive wins.

Salford blew Doncaster away with a 4-1 win the last time they met, in March, with Neil Wood’s side going on to reaching the League Two play-offs last term.

Doncaster are made to pay for some wasteful finishing but a ruthless Salford display in front of goal.

Salford score a third with only their third attempt on goal all night following a counter-attack. Matt Smith gets it for his hat-trick.

McCann is left raging on the touchline after the linesman again raises his flag against Doncaster, for whom the chances are racking up.

Another chance comes and goes

George Broadbent drags one wide with Rovers still largely in control but unable to find a breakthrough.

Jack Senior and George Broadbent coming on

Rovers have just had a Joe Ironside ruled out for offside.

Harrison Biggins releases the striker through on goal, he’s slightly off balance and blazes over. A good chance goes begging.

Zain Westbrooke gets his head to Luke Molyneux’s cross with the ball dipping towards goal before hitting the crossbar and going out of play.

Faal’s header saved

Alex Cairns collects Mo Faals’ header comfortably in Doncaster’s first meaningful attack of the half, ten minutes after the restart.
