Injured Doncaster Rovers defender is 'bouncing around' as he steps up comeback
Grant McCann has provided an update on the status of injured defender Bobby Faulkner.
The 21-year-old suffered a hamstring injury whilst playing for loan side Harrogate back in November. At the time, McCann admitted the centre-back faced around 12 weeks on the sidelines.
Speaking recently, McCann admitted that Faulkner wasn't "too far away from returning" and has effectively confirmed that the expectation is that he'll return to Harrogate to complete his loan stay there once he's back to full fitness.
When asked by the Free Press if a return some time in February is still likely to be the case, the Northern Irishman responded: "Yeah, I believe so. Bobby's doing a lot of stuff that I probably didn't expect him to do as quickly. I think it just probably just shows the quality of what we have in the physio room and the medical department.

"He's bouncing around the gym all the time, doing this, doing that. He's in there working his socks off to get back and get back to help Harrogate, I think. I think that's his main aim, really, is to get back because his loan is until the end of the season.
"But he's in the best hands and I don't think he's too far off."
Faulkner, whose last outing for his parent club was way back in October 2023, had a slow start to life in North Yorkshire but made 16 appearances before injury struck. Last season he spent time out on loan in Ireland with Dundalk and at non-league Buxton. His Rovers contract expires in the summer although the club do hold an option to extend it.
