Doncaster Rovers suffered their second league defeat in a row, falling to a 2-0 defeat against high-flying Stockport County.
Grant McCann made two changes from the team that were beaten by Leicester City. Bayley McCann and Brandon Hanlan were handed starts in favour of Tom Nixon and Isaac Hutchinson.
The first half was a tight-fought affair with Stockport County largely dominating the possession, but with Doncaster Rovers posing a threat on the counter attack, most notably 15 minutes into the contest when Oliver Whatmuff misjudged the ball to almost leave Alfie May with a simple tap in, if it wasn’t for some alert Stockport defending to shut out the striker.
Stockport County showcased their promotion credentials in the second-half with Mamadou Jobe scoring from close range in the 53rd minute and Kyle Wootton very much putting the game to bed with a goal from close range six minutes later after Simkin had initally saved Norwood’s penalty.
Ultimately, Rovers weren’t able to find a response in a game where they were ultimately second best in almost every department.
Here are our player ratings from the Tuesday night clash.

9. Bayley McCann - 6
Making his first league start, played with tenacity and brought a little bit of fire to the team. Made three tackles but didn't create loads going forward. Still the more lively of the two wingers. Probably the best outfield player on the night. | Bruce Rollinson/AHPIX LTD

10. Brandon Hanlan - 5
Returning to the lineup after his assist against Leicester City, he was lively in the first half without ever really threatening the goal. He was replaced by Will Keane on the hour mark. | Bruce Rollinson/AHPIX LTD

11. Alfie May - 5
Seemed to be playing in a slightly deeper role for most of the game. He worked hard in fairness but still hasn't hit the heights he's proven he can hit in this division. They'll need more if they are to climb the table. Replaced after 68 minutes by Isaac Hutchinson. | Gareth Williams/AHPIX LTD

12. SUB: Will Keane - 6
Introduced in the 62nd minute for his home debut. Controlled the ball well a fair few times. Still needs minutes to build up his fitness. | DRFC Heather King
