Doncaster Rovers suffered their second league defeat in a row, falling to a 2-0 defeat against high-flying Stockport County.
Grant McCann made two changes from the team that were beaten by Leicester City. Bayley McCann and Brandon Hanlan were handed starts in favour of Tom Nixon and Isaac Hutchinson.
The first half was a tight-fought affair with Stockport County largely dominating the possession, but with Doncaster Rovers posing a threat on the counter attack, most notably 15 minutes into the contest when Oliver Whatmuff misjudged the ball to almost leave Alfie May with a simple tap in, if it wasn’t for some alert Stockport defending to shut out the striker.
Stockport County showcased their promotion credentials in the second-half with Mamadou Jobe scoring from close range in the 53rd minute and Kyle Wootton very much putting the game to bed with a goal from close range six minutes later after Simkin had initally saved Norwood’s penalty.
Ultimately, Rovers weren’t able to find a response in a game where they were ultimately second best in almost every department.
Here are our player ratings from the Tuesday night clash.

5. Owen Bailey - 5
The Rovers skipper Owen Bailey has struggled to hit the heights of last season. Was booked in the first half and wasn't the best in possession. Capable of better. | Howard Roe/AHPIX.com

6. Robbie Gotts - 6
Put a real shift in for his team and was decent in possession. Steady enough.

7. George Broadbent - 5
Worked hard but wasn't the best in possession. Was replaced in the 75th minute.
8. Leon Ayinde - 5
Gave away a second-half penalty. Has been on good form in recent weeks but wasn't really effective from an attacking sense in this one. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
