'I know what his teams about' - AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson shares thoughts on Doncaster Rovers

Johnnie Jackson looks ahead to his side’s home match with Doncaster Rovers

AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson says he has a good idea of what to expect from Doncaster Rovers and has also described Grant McCann as a top manager.

Rovers have had plenty of battles with Wimbledon over the years. Last time out, McCann’s side secured a crucial 1-0 victory in the capital courtesy of a 99th minute winner from midfielder Owen Bailey, but in the reverse fixture they had less fortune, falling to a disappointing 2-1 loss at the Club Doncaster Sports Village.

When asked about the challenge his team faces against Doncaster Rovers, Jackson told the club website: "I think I know what his teams are all about, how he wants his teams to play. I think you've seen down the years that he wants his teams to play really good football. They want to be expansive. They want to be attacking. They want to score goals and create.

"Grant's a top manager. He's a top coach and one thing he will be is adaptable. I saw it at Stevenage, they struggled to break Stevenage down in the first-half. He made adjustments at half-time and they came on really strong in the second-half. And he'll probably be disappointed they didn't win that game, to be honest.

"We always have good games with Donny. They beat us at home last year in a really close one. We beat them away in a close one. And that always seems to be the theme with mine and his teams down the years. So I always look forward to coming up against them because it's a challenge. Preparing for them is a really good challenge, it's one that we embrace. But you have to get it right against his teams because they're always going to be well set up."
