Here is how we rated Rovers’ individual performances on a sorry afternoon at the Stadium of Light. Let us know what you think on Twitter @FreePressRovers.
9. Taylor Richards 6
He was Rovers' most dangerous player in the first half but seemed intent to do most of it himself and had a period where his frustration got the better of him. He popped up in a great position for Rovers goal and was unlucky not to tuck his shot in the corner. Photo: Howard Roe/AHPIX LTD
10. Reece James 5
Caught flatfooted for Sunderland’s third which played Wyke onside for a free header. He got on the ball well at times but struggled to craft anything of note. Photo: Howard Roe/AHPIX LTD
11. Omar Bogle 6
Put himself about well and battled for the ball but struggled for opportunities barring a couple of shots from range. Looks a promising addition. Photo: Steve Flynn/AHPIX LTD
12. John Bostock 6
A bright spark in the game for Rovers after his half time introduction. Unblighted by what had come before, he got on the ball well and dictated play from deep. He looked much brighter than his midweek performance. Photo: HOWARD ROE, Howard Roe/AHPIX LTD
