Here is how we rated Rovers’ individual performances on a sorry afternoon at the Stadium of Light. Let us know what you think on Twitter @FreePressRovers.
1. Ellery Balcombe 6
Could not do a great deal about any of the four goal that he conceded, particularly the fourth which he was in line to claim easily. He did not have a great deal more to deal with and barring a few stray kicks, he was largely solid. Photo: Ed Sykes/AHPIX LTD
2. Brad Halliday 5
Turned inside out by McGeady for the second goal and was given trouble by the Republic of Ireland international for much of the afternoon. He did produce a couple of excellent last ditch tackles to prevent McGeady from breaking clear but could have done with some help. Composed after the break. Photo: Bruce Rollinson
3. Joe Wright 5
In at centre half for the injured Anderson - and took the captaincy too. Failed to react to Wyke breaking free for Sunderland’s opener and will certainly have hoped for better with the freedom afforded to the hosts’ strike force at times. Photo: Bruce Rollinson
4. Andy Butler 5
No glaring mistakes from the veteran but he will certainly be disappointed with the manner in which all four goals were conceded. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
