Doncaster Rovers in 'no rush' over stadium naming rights decision - meeting with potential partner
Doncaster Rovers' hierarchy are in "no rush" to finalise a new stadium naming rights partner, despite the current agreement nearing its conclusion.
The arrangement with Eco-Power, the Doncaster-based waste management and recycling company, is set to finish at the climax of the current campaign. The deal - described as the "biggest the club has ever done from a commercial point of view" - began back in December 2021 with Rovers' home ground renamed the Eco-Power Stadium. But back in 2024 Eco-Power announced they were scaling back sponsorship commitments.
Minutes from Rovers' Shadow Board's latest meeting - which took place prior to last weekend's game with Cardiff City - provided a brief update on the topic: "Shaun Lockwood (chief commercial officer) and Gavin Baldwin (chief executive) met with Terry Bramall (chairman) several weeks ago to discuss a proposal moving forward in respect of the stadium naming rights given the current contract with Eco-Power is coming to a natural end.
"GB stated that a decision was made at this meeting not to rush the stadium naming rights partnership."

The minutes added that: "Laura Hemstock (head of sales), and SL have a meeting with a potential partner who has shown interest in the stadium naming rights without much information of Club Doncaster as an organisation."
Public comments on the issue have been few and far between with Baldwin last touching on the subject at the Meet the Owners event 14 months ago. At the time he said: "They (Eco-Power) have been excellent and have honoured every contract. Equally, they have made it clear they are willing to talk over the future and they have also said they will be happy to step aside should we get another offer that could change our world. But there's no deadline or pressure at this stage."
