The 19-year-old attacking midfielder becomes Rovers’ third signing of the summer and will have the opportunity to make his debut in Saturday’s Carabao Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers.

Richards moved to Brighton last summer from Manchester City, with a reported package of £2.5million agreed following an initial £1million payment.

A left-footed midfielder, Richards regularly plays in the centre of the park but has also featured on the right. His range of passing and footwork are his primary assets.

The former England U17 international scored six goals in 18 appearances for Brighton’s U23s last season.
