These photos show folk across the UK living the 60s dream, whether that’s embracing the latest fashions and ideas or enjoying the mod cons which made life that little bit easier.
Everybody has different memories of the 60s, which weren’t necessarily as swinging for everyone as they are often portrayed.
Hippies broke with convention and pursued a more carefree lifestyle, shunning the pursuit of material wealth.
But others enjoyed the trappings of consumerism, as the privations of the post-war years gave way to greater wealth to be spent on new technology and the bold designs which typified the decade.
This retro photo gallery shows young people cutting loose, from Mods and Rockers to hippies at a music festival.
It also captures family life, from camping trips and shopping outings to some of the most popular cars of the 60s, and the latest kitchen gadgets.
Elsewhere, a prefab home is lowered into position, women in mini-skirts prepare to break the record for most people in a Mini, and a young boy watches Andy Pandy on TV.
