9. Chris Evans
Chris Evans was everywhere during the 90s, as the poster boy for the era's lad culture. With the organised chaos of Big Breakfast and TGI Friday, he certainly shook up British TV. | Getty Images Photo: Avalon/Getty Images

10. Mr. Bean makes his bow
While Friends was the defining comedy of the 90s, in the UK we had Mr. Bean. The 'child in a grown man's body', as creator and actor Rowan Atkinson memorably described, him made his televisual bow on January 1, 1990 and his daft antics quickly had viewers hooked. Other comedy hits of the decade included Absolutely Fabulous, The Vicar of Dibley and The Royle Family. | Getty Images Photo: Patrick Riviere/Getty Images

11. Good Friday Agreement
The Good Friday Agreement was signed on April 10, 1998 and, after being put to a public vote, came into effect on December 2, 1999. This photo shows the front pages after people had voted in favour of the pact, drawn up to bring peace after three decades of violence which claimed more than 3,500 lives. | Getty Images Photo: Carlos Lopez-Barillas/Getty Images

12. Supermodels
Supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell dominated 90s fashion, becoming household names. They are pictured hugging here at an event in the mid-90s. | Getty Images Photo: Michael White/Getty Images
