Two women have been charged after a man suffered serious leg injuries when hit by a car in Doncaster in the early hours of April 13.

Just after midnight, police received reports that the man had been hit by a black Kia in Middle Bank, Hyde Park.

South Yorkshire Police said: “The 35-year-old was taken to hospital with a fractured leg and minor head injuries.

"He remains in hospital awaiting further surgery.

“Jane Challenor, 35, of Dryden Drive in Doncaster and Sophie Mayer, 26, of Derby Way in Stockport were both arrested a short while later in connection with the incident.”

Both women have been charged with section 18 wounding and remanded to appear at Doncaster Magistrate’s Court on April 15.
