Three more routes closed due to flooding in Doncaster

Five routes are now closed in Doncaster due to flooding and water levels, say officials.

Fordstead Lane, near Barnby Dun, Clay Lane West, at Long Sandall, and Kirk Bramwith Bridge, at Kirk Bramwith, have now been added the the list of routes closed by the effects of Storm Dennis.

There are still five Environment Agency flood alerts in place in Doncaster.

A flood alert means: “Flooding is possible – be prepared.”

The latest Environment Agency statement for the lower River Don area stated river levels on the River Don were ‘elevated and still rising’.

It stated: “We expect levels to continue rising throughout today (16/02/2020), forecast to peak at Doncaster between 17:00 and 20:00. Fordstead lane is now flooding and Jubliee Bridge is closed. Please do not walk or drive through flood water and plan driving routes to avoid low lying land that may be flooded.

“We have staff in the field and are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room. We are supporting our partners in a co-ordinated multi-agency response to ensure that we are prepared to respond. We are implementing our contingency plan for the village of Fishlake.”
