King Charles in Doncaster: Brass band's delight at God Save The King tribute

While King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla conferred city status inside the Mansion House, outside crowds were kept entertained with live music.

The musical accompaniment to the Royal visit came courtesy of the Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band who played a selection of numbers while His and Her Majesties met with civic dignataries inside one of Doncaster’s most historic buildings.

And as the couple drove away following the ceremony, the brass band struck up a rousing rendition of God Save The King as they passed en route to their awaiting helicopter at the Racecourse.

A spokesman said: “The band was delighted to have been invited to play for the visit of King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort, to Doncaster."

Musicians played some old favourites as well as a few contemporary items to entertain the assembled crowd and the VIPs as they arrived for the ceremony which attracted large crowds to the city centre.
