This was the moment King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla waved goodbye to Doncaster after conferring city status – and flew off into a rainbow.

The Royal couple were greeted at Doncaster Racecourse by a number of well-wishers who gathered on the edge of the course to see His and Her Majesty head back to London after their two day tour of Yorkshire.

The city status engagement at the Mansion House was the last event on a packed schedule, which also saw trips to Leeds, Bradford and York.

The couple had arrived earlier at Town Moor, using the Royal car to travel along Bennetthorpe, Hall Gate and High Street into the city centre, with the route lined with flag-waving crowds. Watch their arrival HERE

And by the time they arrived back at Town Moor, a rainbow had formed in the skies, creating a momentous end to the first visit to Doncaster by a reigning monarch since the Queen visited in 1994.
