Penelope’s journey was no overnight success.

She first auditioned for the role in September 2025 and underwent a rigorous five-month casting process.

After several recalls against talent from across the country, the Doncaster local was chosen for her unique blend of technical skill and historical curiosity.

“Penelope has been a natural delight to get to know throughout the casting,” said the film’s producer.

“Her acting ability speaks for itself, but what most impressed us was her genuine excitement for the history behind the film. She truly understands the weight of the story we are telling.”

Principal photography is scheduled to begin at the end of September 2026.

For Penelope, this marks a whirlwind transition to a professional actress with a feature film set for a full cinema release.

Who was Alice Glaston?

Born in circa 1535, Alice was an 11-year-old English girl from Little Wenlock who was hanged in Much Wenlock, Shropshire, England, under the reign of Henry VIII.

The crime for which she was hanged is unknown, but it is speculated that she was accused of either murder or witchcraft.

It is believed that witchcraft is more likely of the two, owing to the introduction of the Witchcraft Act, just four years prior to her death in 1546.

She is believed to be the youngest girl ever executed in Britain.
