Civic mayor leads tribute after death of Doncaster Mansion House stalwart
Tributes have been paid following the death of a stalwart of Doncaster’s historic Mansion House.
Friends of Doncaster Mansion House paid tribute to volunteer Doreen Gravil.
Sharing the news, a spokesperson said: “We are very sorry to report that Doreen, who was a volunteer at the Mansion House for many years, sadly passed away before Christmas.
"Many of us have very happy memories of Doreen and remember her infectious enthusiasm for the building, and her love of sharing it with visitors.”

City of Doncaster Council Civic Mayor Councillor Tim Needham posted: “So sorry to read this. It’s clear Doreen made a real difference at the Mansion House and brought joy to many. Out thoughts are with her Doreen’s family and friends.”
The Grade I listed building, which dates from 1749 and dominates Doncaster’s High Street, was formerly used to host Doncaster Council meetings but is now used as a civic building.
