Sue Taylor’s column - Isle Lose It members take part in obstacle race
This is something that we aim to do with our members at least once a year, but this year was special.
This year we weren’t just entering for our own personal challenges, but we were entering to raise more funds for Team Verrico.

Hide AdAs a trustee of the charity, one of my aims is not only to raise as much money as possible but to help raise awareness of the charity itself.
Some of our members had never ever done anything like this before.
Most people that join ILI do so with very little (if any) fitness or confidence.
It is amazing and so satisfying for me to watch people progress over the weeks and months.

Hide AdAs the training that we do is so diverse and consistent our members benefit from total all round fitness.
Some of our newer members entered the 5km race and some of the more experienced members entered the 10km.
Barbed wire, carrying heavy logs, going through a freezing cold lake, crawling through ice, running up and down steep hills, wading through thick, thigh high mud were just some of the obstacles we had to conquer and our motto for the day was “One for all and all for one’ and just like our regular weekly camp sessions, the emphasis was on team work and ensuring that everyone got round safely.
The event was a huge success and at last count we have raised £2,000 for the charity which is simply amazing.

Hide AdTeam Verrico is such an important local charity which is very close to the hearts of all ILI members.
We all know someone who has been touched by cancer. Some have survived but some like Anna Verrico didn’t.
ILI will continue to do its upmost to raise more money and keep the charity’s profile high.
Well done to Paul and all our members for taking on the challenge! Here’s to the next one.
