Motorbike tribute at funeral of boy, 6, killed in Doncaster road crash tragedy

The youngster died following a double crash tragedy which also left his father with serious injuries

Motorcyclists and bikers are being sought to pay tribute to a Doncaster youngster who died following a double crash tragedy.

The youngster, named and pictured locally as Cohen, suffered fatal injuries in the crash in Skellow last month.

His father suffered life-changing injuries - with members of the same family involved in separate road crashes minutes apart on June 25.

Mum Kleighn has announced details of Cohen’s funeral - and has called on motorbikers to join the funeral cortege.

The service will be held on July 29 from 3pm at Memoria Doncaster near Kirk Sandall.

She said: “Everybody that knew Cohen is more than welcome to attend.

“Wear blue and red as they were his fave colours.”

A party celebrating his life will be held aftewards in Burghwallis from 4pm with a bouncy castle.

She added: “We are wanting as many people as possible to follow behind him on motorbikes and Surrons as he absolutely loved them and would have buzzed seeing it,

“We want to do anything we can to give him the send off he deserves so he can hear it from the sky.”

Money has poured in for the family - with more than £2,000 raised.

On a GoFundMe page organiser Leanne Hone said: “After the devastating loss of a much loved little boy called Cohen, our community is coming together to support a local family whose lives were changed forever after two devastating accidents occurred just minutes apart.

“Tragically, these heartbreaking events claimed the life of a beautiful 6-year-old boy Cohen.

“His father also suffered life-changing injuries and now faces a long and uncertain road to recovery.

“The family is left not only grieving the unimaginable loss of their little boy, but also facing the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that lie ahead.

“No family should have to endure such overwhelming heartbreak alone.

“Every donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden, allowing the family to focus on healing, recovery, and supporting one another during this incredibly difficult time.

“Together, we can show this family that they are not alone and that our community stands beside them every step of the way.Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “On 25 June, we received reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a stationary van close to the junction of Poplar Road and Lodge Road in Skellow.

“It is reported a white Volkswagen Golf collided with a parked white Citroen Relay van.

“Officers and the ambulance service attended, and a six-year-old boy, a passenger within the Golf was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“On June 30, the boy sadly died.

“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time who continue to be supported by our officers.

“A 52-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and other motoring offences, has been bailed as enquiries continue.

“The driver of the van is assisting with our enquiries.

“We are keen to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision, or the car prior to the collision.
