Litter picking group for people with mobility issues cleans up beauty spot
The group took to the beauty spot to give it a clean-up
People with disabilities and mobiity issues have helped give a Doncaster beauty spot a clean-up after taking part in a litter-picking session.
The event, organised by Friends of Conisbrough and Denaby Crags, came about when the group’s chair Tony Sellars was asked by a person with walking difficulties if they could come on a litter pick using her zimmer frame.
He said: “The result was great - the disabled person felt valued and enjoyed being a member the group.
“It was therefore agreed by the Friends of the Crags Group that we should encourage more disabled people to attend.”
He said: “By organising this litter pick, we aim to give people of all ages—particularly people with disabilities or those experiencing isolation—the opportunity to take part in a worthwhile community activity, meet and connect with others, develop a stronger sense of purpose and improve their overall wellbeing.
Sheila, 70, said: “I loved every minute. As a newcomer to Conisbrough, | enjoyed meeting new people and had a great day.”
Beryl, 79, said: “It was nice to get out with other people and visit the beautiful Crags area.”

Mr Sellars added: “It was a very rewarding day. We proved that a small community group can support disabled members of the community in this way.”
