Doncaster breast cancer survivor completes Great Wall of China trek
Victoria has raised more than £7,000 through her efforts
A Doncaster breast cancer survivor has raised more than £7,000 after trekking along the Great Wall of China.
Victoria Sedgwick, who has had breast cancer twice, completed the challenge in aid of breast cancer charity CoppaFeel.

Vicky, who works for City of Doncaster Council’s special educational needs team, explained: “I absolutely love my job — working with Doncaster’s schools, families, children and young people.
“But behind my day job, life has looked very different for me since 2021
“Back in 2021, at just 38, I received the shock diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer.
“A routine check turned into a whirlwind, and I discovered I carried the BRCA1 gene, meaning my cancer was hereditary and my risk of recurrence was extremely high.
“What followed was a year of pure grit: chemotherapy, radiotherapy, a double mastectomy and, eventually, a full hysterectomy.
“And I did it. I kicked cancer’s butt.
“But cancer didn’t quite get the message - in 2024 it came back for round two, and I found myself facing another gruelling year of treatment — more chemotherapy and surgery – this time a lumpectomy from my chest wall.
“In January 2025, I rang that bell again (louder this time!) and began the long journey of rebuilding myself, ready for my full breast reconstruction.
“After everything I’ve been through, I decided that 2026 is my year. My year of giving back. My year of raising awareness.
“My year of making memories for all the right, positive reasons.”
Victoria joined Giovanna Fletcher and a team of other cancer survivors to take on the five day challenge.
