Doncaster cinema goers evacuated after huge power cut

Film lovers had to abandon their screenings after a massive power cut

Dozens of film-goers had to be escorted from a Doncaster cinema mid-movie after a huge power cut blew supplies to the venue as well as local restaurants.

Doncaster’s Vue cinema was one of hundreds of homes and businseses hit by the blow-out on Saturday night.

Customers were forced to leave the Herten Triangle cinema after the cut promptly ended screenings mid-film.

The issue impacted a number of homes and firms in the Lakeside area, Northern Powergrid said.

A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said: “At 20:02 on Saturday 1 August, a power cut occurred affecting around 150 customers in the Lakeside area of Doncaster.

“The power cut was caused due to a cable fault between two substations.

“Engineers arrived on site by 20:30 and all customers were restored by 21:00.”
