The Doncaster Chamber, in partnership with Vulcan to the Sky, welcomed local organisations to Doncaster Sheffield Airport this week for a dynamic networking event celebrating business growth, community collaboration, and the preservation of aviation heritage.

Among the attendees were representatives from AmbiSpace, with Dean Cook and Vicky Gardner joining professionals from across the region.

The event was praised for its organisation and atmosphere, bringing together passionate businesses and community leaders.

For many neurodivergent professionals, however, networking environments can be challenging. Busy rooms, close proximity, unpredictable noise, and constant conversation can quickly become overwhelming.

AmbiSpace highlighted how tools such as fidgets and sensory regulation can make the difference between an experience feeling manageable or draining, a reminder of the importance of inclusive design in professional spaces.

A warm thank-you was extended to Debbie Griffin and Lynda from Intec, and Ryan Oldfield from Mental Health FC, for their support throughout the event.

The session was opened by Rohit Issar from Doncaster Chamber and Craig Sheppard, CEO of Vulcan to the Sky, who shared exciting plans for a new hangar that will house two iconic aircraft: the Avro Vulcan XH558 and the English Electric Canberra WK163.

The organisation is currently seeking donations, with contributors offered the opportunity to have their name or business engraved on one of the bricks used in the hangar’s construction, a unique way to support the preservation of aviation history.

Guests also had the chance to explore the Vulcan up close and speak with the expert team.

Dean Cook from AmbiSpace told us: “A highlight of the day was reconnecting with retired Wing Commander Adrian Sumner, a former RAF pilot of the aircraft whose knowledge and stories continue to inspire visitors.

“The event also celebrated emerging talent, including Harrison College student Harvey, who is doing exceptional work as Digital Content Creator for Vulcan to the Sky.

“His enthusiasm and skill were recognised by many attendees.”

“Preserving the heritage of the Vulcan is vital, ensuring future generations can learn from, appreciate, and be inspired by one of Britain’s most iconic aircraft.

“Events like this bring the community together to celebrate history, innovation, and the future of Doncaster’s business landscape.”
