Belles beat Scottish side Spartans 8-0 in a pre-season run-out on Sunday, on the back of a friendly win over Sheffield FC.

However, it is not just the performances on the pitch that have encouraged Harris.

“The attitude and application of the girls has been spot on, I couldn’t ask for anything more,” he said.

“The work ethic is very, very good and you can see them, every session, improving fitness wise.

“You can see the girls have done their off-season work and have come back with a really, really good determination to be as fit as they can be for this season.

“Quite a few girls are making a big step coming into full time and made big decisions with their careers to actually give it up for football,” he added.

“I understand how difficult some of those decisions have been.

“But their actual ethic when they came in and the work they’ve done in the off-season is paying fruition now and we were able to move on pretty quickly because they’ve put that work in.”

New signings Natasha Dowie and Katrin Omarsdottir were among the scorers against Spartans last weekend.

Kasia Lipka (2) and Leandra Little also got their names on the scoresheet.

Belles begin life back in FAWSL1 at home to reigning champions Chelsea on Thursday, March 24.
