The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is set to fly over Doncaster later this year – and here’s where you might be able to catch a glimpse of the historic aircraft.

Residents across Belton and the wider Isle of Axholme are being invited to look to the skies this May, as a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast is planned to mark a major community celebration at Belton Park Pavilion.

The flypast will form the centrepiece of a special “Birthday Party in the Park” event on Saturday 16 May, celebrating 20 years of the Pavilion Building and 50 years of the Belton Bowls Club.

Organisers say the flypast—featuring iconic aircraft such as the Spitfire, Hurricane, and Dakota (subject to availability and weather conditions)—will be a rare and memorable moment for the village.

A spokesperson for Belton Park Pavilion said: “This is a huge milestone for us and for the community. We wanted to celebrate in a way that brings people together and creates a real sense of occasion.

“Having the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight pass over the event is something truly special—it’s not every day you get to see these historic aircraft right above your village and it’s a great way to celebrate the birthday or our pavilion building.”

The free event will run from 12pm to 6pm at Belton Park Pavilion and is open to all ages, with free entry and free parking available.

Alongside the flypast, visitors can enjoy a full programme of entertainment including live music from 12:30pm, a selection of food trucks, a licensed bar, and free children’s activities and play throughout the day.

Organisers are encouraging residents from across North Lincolnshire and beyond to attend, making it a celebration not just for Belton, but for the wider community.

“This isn’t just a party—it’s about bringing people together. Whether you’re coming for the music, the food, the family atmosphere, or to witness the flypast, there’ll be something for everyone,” the spokesperson added.
