Man threatened to set fire to Doncaster woman's home

A man has been placed on an electronic curfew after he threatened to set fire to a Doncaster woman’s home, court records have revealed.

Joseph Benjamin Thomas Smith made the threat that he would burn down the woman’s house on September 9 this year, records for Doncaster Magistrates’ Court show.

Smith, 23, of Carentan Close, Selby, admitted the offence when he appeared before magistrates on Monday, September 14.

Smith was given an eight-week electronic curfew to stay at his home address between the hours of 8pm and 7am until November 9 this year.

He must also pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

In a separate incident on September 14, Smith was arrested and brought to court by police officers because they feared that he would not willingly surrender to custody.

As part of his bail conditions, Smith was also banned from entering Willow Crescent, Thorne, Doncaster where the offence took place.
