A major road in Doncaster has been reopened six hours after a young man was stabbed in broad daylight on the busy street.

Police have reopened Balby Road, several hours after a 26-year-old man was rushed to hospital following an attack at 2.20pm today (Monday, September 28).

The man, who was found with stab wounds to his chest, is said to be in a critical condition in hospital according to officers.

South Yorkshire Police thanked motorists for their patience while they investigated the scene.

In a tweet, they said: “Balby Road in Doncaster is now open. Thank you for your patience while our officers carried out their enquiries.”

Sandford Road was also closed by officers earlier and traffic was diverted away from Balby Road near to The Plough pub and along Greenfield Lane into Hexthorpe.

Anyone who has any information about what happened is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 404 of 28 September 2020.
