The consumer electronics brand returned to the site of John Logie Baird's first public television demonstration to celebrate a century of TV and showcase its latest RGB MiniLED technology.

Hisense marked the centenary of television by returning to the London location where Scottish inventor John Logie Baird first publicly demonstrated his pioneering television system 100 years ago. The global consumer electronics and home appliances brand hosted its "Celebrating 100 Years of Television. Hisense, the Origin of RGB MiniLED" event across Soho and central London on the 24th and 25th of October.

The celebration centred around 22 Frith Street, where Baird's groundbreaking demonstration took place in 1926, and The Now Building at Outernet London, where visitors were treated to an immersive display charting the history of television while showcasing Hisense's latest RGB MiniLED technology.

Marking the link between television's origins and its future, visitors followed a "London Walk through TV History" trail connecting key locations, with stops including Bar Italia at 22 Frith Street, where attendees could enjoy a complimentary coffee, take part in activities and collect commemorative souvenirs. A highlight of the event saw Iain Logie Baird, grandson of television pioneer John Logie Baird, join celebrations at Bar Italia on 25 October.

He said: "Hisense is doing something similar to my grandfather: taking something that had been exclusively in the laboratory and putting it into a product the public can buy and enjoy."

At Outernet London's The Now Building, guests explored a museum-style exhibition celebrating a century of television history while experiencing Hisense's RGB MiniLED technology in a 360-degree, ultra-high-definition environment.

Hisense says its RGB MiniLED technology, featured in the flagship 116UXS television, delivers richer and more accurate colours, improved brightness and contrast, and a more lifelike viewing experience.

Martin Wilkie, director at World Origin Sites, praised the company's contribution to television's development.

He said: "What Hisense has done is take television to the next stage - and the quality shows."

Arun Bhatoye, Head of Marketing for Hisense UK, said: "The UK's rich heritage of broadcasting innovation makes it a particularly meaningful place to celebrate 100 years of television.

"As the origin of RGB MiniLED, Hisense is proud to help shape the future of display technology, pushing the boundaries of colour, brightness and contrast to deliver more lifelike visuals and enhanced viewing comfort.

"We're excited to be part of the next chapter in television history and to bring these innovations to consumers around the world."
