Charlotte Collins, aged 30, from Thorne has been a lifelong lover of makeup - and earlier this year she decided she would set up makeup classes so that she could share those skills with others.

“It’s something that I have always been able to do and I thought that everyone else could do to.

“But people kept coming to me and saying that they wished I did lessons so I thought why not.

“The people that have taken them really love it - it can be so confusing to navigate all the products and methods,” Charlotte said.

She is self-taught and started her business because friends and family pushed her to follow her creative passion.

“I used to work at Benefit and I did makeup on the side but then I got pregnant and fell out of it.

“I lost so much confidence but I decided to come back to it last year and I have been surprised at how busy I have been since,” Charlotte said.

“I told her she already was of course but we did a makeover and her reaction was overwhelming.

“She looked in the mirror and said ‘I can’t believe it’s me.’

“It’s times like that which make you feel really good about yourself.”

“Makeup can really make you feel good about yourself - some people say that it’s a mask but if it makes you feel good then who cares?”
