Doncaster women starts new business to help her improve mental health after losing her brother

Selina Mills, 24, from Balby started High Lashe in August 2020

It was founded from a place of darkness but has brought passion and joy into her life.

She said: “My brother Bradley Parks took his own life when he was 21.

“That led me into depression.

“It hit my family really hard.

“I lost all motivation to work and left my job.”

Selina wanted to find something that would take her mind off her problems and landed on starting her own lash brand.

“Doing my own thing has been great for me,” she continued.

“I would encourage any one who is thinking about starting their own business to just go for it.”Before Covid-19 put a stop to nights out and social events the business was thriving.

“It has calmed down around the lockdowns but now that we have a solid date for when things reopen business is picking back up,” she said.

“I want to see all the women in Doncaster wearing my lashes when we can go out again.”

Selina said that there are benefits to buying her cruelty free, vegan lashes over those available in drugstore shops.

“It’s more exclusive,” she said.

“Because I’m a small brand not many other ladies will have the same lashes when you go out.

“They’re also reusable unlike normal lashes.“If you take care of them they can last up to 20 wears.”

Selina believes in sustainable beauty and is passionate about her products being recyclable.
