New spectacular for Epworth Show

Show organisers believe it to be fitting that the legendary Spitfire which was used during World War Two should stage a special flyover for the action-packed event on August 25.

At 2pm the skies above Epworth Showground will play host to the spectacular, to demonstrate the greatness of the Mk1 Spitfire that helped defend Britain in August 1938. The planes fought in every operational part of the war, and remained in RAF front-line service up to 1954.

“We are absolutely delighted to have this fantastic addition to the Show’s schedule this year, and feel very privileged to have such a legendary aircraft demonstrate its true greatness for us,” said Maggie Antcliff, Chair of Epworth and District Agricultural Society.

“This really is the icing on the cake for us this year.”

She continued: “The combined noise and sight of the Spitfire flying over is fabulous in itself. Imagine how the skies would have looked and sounded when they were filled with them during World War Two. Make sure you bring your cameras, as this will truly be a sight not to be missed.”

As well as the Spitfire fly over, there will be a host of other events including Falconry, Horse Jumping, a Horticultural Tent, Bernese Carter Dogs, Classic Cars, live music and Titan the Robot, and much more.

There will be a free coach to carry passengers to the show ground starting from Albion Hill, Epworth (Group Dwellings) to the Showground on Epworth Turbary picking up en-route throughout the day on a hail and ride basis. The first journey will begin at 9.30am and be repeated every hour throughout the day with the final run from the Showground to Albion Hill at 16.45pm
