‘Dunhuang to Doncaster’ Chinese art exhibition

A stunning new exhibition showcasing the richness of Chinese art has opened at the Danum Gallery, Library and Museum giving visitors the chance to enjoy a new collection of paintings by renowned artist Olivia Pang.

‘Dunhuang to Doncaster’ features dozens of mural reproductions of ancient Buddhist cave paintings, created by Olivia, whose self-portrait has featured on Sky Arts ‘Portrait Artist of the Year’.

The murals are the result of Olivia’s participation in the ‘Silk Road Mural Study and Replication Project” organized by the China National Academy of Arts.

The works that Olivia has made faithfully recreate the techniques, colours, and spiritual narratives of the Dunhuang and Xinjiang cave murals, which were made between the 4th and 14th centuries.
