Knights face leaders Worcester
Runaway league leaders Worcester Warriors put their unblemished record on the line this weekend when they travel to Castle Park to take on Doncaster Knights.
The former Premiership outfit arrive for the Saturday, November 7, fixture in rampant form. Sitting top of the table after winning six from six, the reigning play-off champions have amassed 90 more points and conceded 83 fewer than their ninth-placed hosts.
Worcester have swept aside opponents with clinical efficiency so far this campaign, recording heavy victories over Rotherham Titans (78-12), Bedford Blues (40-5), and Nottingham (49-25). They maintained their momentum last time out with a five-try, 31-19 victory against Blackheath, featuring a brace from centre Tom Seabrook alongside scores by Austin Wallis, Jake Garside and substitute prop Ash Challenger.
Doncaster, by contrast, have endured a mixed opening sequence of two wins and four defeats. Following a bruising 45-26 loss to second-placed Ealing Trailfinders last Saturday, the Knights face a demanding task against the division's form side.
However, previous encounters offer encouragement for the home side. In October last year, Doncaster produced a memorable 34-31 home triumph courtesy of an 80th-minute try from Jordan Olowofela. While Worcester avenged that loss with a 25-20 win at Sixways later in the campaign, the Knights proved they can push the champions to the limit.
The contest is likely to be dictated by the set piece. Having struggled at scrum time against Ealing's forwards, Doncaster must display tighter discipline up front to deny Worcester the solid platform that has powered their campaign.
