Doncaster clothes swap offers families a different route to winter wardrobes

Families preparing children’s winter wardrobes can swap clothes and learn repair skills at a free Doncaster event this November.

Wardrobe Rescue: Swap, Mend and Connect will return to the Danum Gallery, Library and Museum in Waterdale on Saturday 21 November, from 11am to 2pm. Visitors can take along a good-quality item to exchange and learn how to mend clothing, with no booking required. A further session is planned for 12 December.

Although the event is not specifically a children’s sale, it offers a way to pass on clothing that no longer fits but remains wearable. Coats, baby cardigans, school-age jumpers and special-occasion outfits may all have useful life left after their original owner has outgrown them.

Before replacing winter clothes, parents can inspect existing items for fit and condition, including their measurements, seams, zips and labels. If a replacement is needed, preloved options are available locally and online.

The British Heart Foundation shop at 15–16 Baxtergate in Doncaster stocks new and preloved clothing, books and toys, although sizes and individual items depend on availability.

Kidora, a UK parent-to-parent marketplace founded by North Wales mum-of-two Karolina Gudes, also lists new, unused and preloved children’s clothing, toys, books and baby essentials through its iPhone and Android apps. Some items are offered for £0 with local collection only, while prices and delivery or collection options for other listings are set by sellers. Any applicable buyer fee, including Buyer Protection, is displayed before payment.

Buyers can review photographs and descriptions and ask questions about sizing, stains or damage. Additional care is advised for toys and baby products that could have missing parts or be subject to safety recalls. Safety-critical equipment without a verifiable history may not be suitable for reuse.

Parents can also sell through Kidora without seller fees. AI-assisted suggestions can help create listings from photographs, but sellers review the details and choose their own prices.

Kidora is independent of Wardrobe Rescue, the Danum Gallery and the British Heart Foundation.
