Located in Mexborough, Cygnet Aspen House provides high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) for women with mental health needs.

Through a fundraising fun day, staff and individuals supported at the service raised £530 for the National Autistic Society.

The charity provides support, guidance and advice for autistic people and their families as well as campaigning for improved rights, services and opportunities for autistic people.

With many service users, staff, family and friends having a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, the Cygnet Health Care service was inspired to fundraise for the charity.

“This is a charity that is particularly meaningful to many within our service community. It is a great cause,” explained Courtney Hartley, an Occupational Therapist at Cygnet Aspen House.

“The event was an opportunity to raise awareness, celebrate neurodiversity and promote greater understanding and inclusion.”

Individuals supported at the Cygnet Health Care service played a vital role in the day, baking cakes to be sold and preparing prizes for the raffle, all while dressed in bright rainbow-coloured clothing.

The engaging event also featured a quiz, party games, a tombola and face-painting for all to enjoy.

Courtney said: “It was a fantastic day for everyone involved. It brought people together to have fun while raising awareness of autism. We are proud to have supported the National Autistic Society and grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of the fundraiser.

“Events like this foster a strong sense of community, togetherness and a shared purpose among staff and service users. It’s an opportunity to unite and build positive relationships, improve morale and create rewarding shared experiences.”
