The Thursday Murder Club has finally made it to the big (and small screen). The movie adaptation has arrived on Netflix to much anticipation.
It had a limited release in cinemas last week, but was released on streaming today (August 28). See who is in the cast of the movie here and find out what the ending means.
Ahead of the release of the film, I finally picked-up a copy of Richard Osman’s best-selling book and read through it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of my biggest disappointments of 2025.
The film does make some major changes to the original source material. I’ve rounded-up 17 of the biggest differences I spotted in the movie.

9. Jason Ritchie is arrested
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think anyone was actually arrested in the original book. But Jason Ritchie certainly wasn’t, even if he did fall under suspicion. However, after being visited by Donna and Chris at the ice rink in the movie, he is arrested for the murder of Tony Curran. | Netflix Photo: Netflix

10. Spare bones are identified very quickly
In the book, the discovery of a second set of bones buried in one of the graves at the Garden of Eternal Rest, proves to be a central mystery. It takes quite a long time for the identity of the person they’d belonged to come out. However, in the movie, they are identified pretty much instantly. | Netflix Photo: Netflix

11. Jason is having an affair with Ian’s wife
A big change in the film is that Jason Ritchie is having an affair with Ian’s wife - and that the couple were in the stages of divorce. In the book, it is Ian who seems to be having affairs, or at least implied to be. | Netflix Photo: Netflix

12. Bobby Tanner’s secret identity is different
In both the book and the film, Bobby Tanner is in hiding as the owner of a flower shop. However, in the original he is under the assumed name of Peter, but in the film he is using the name Derek. The movie also implies that Bobby is still involved in the criminal world, whereas in the book he has gone straight and is simply a florist. | Netflix Photo: Netflix
