If you want to build a snowman you’re in luck.

And that’s just the pavements outside the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, where Disney on Ice is back in residence until Sunday, writes Sarah Smith.

The weather outside may be frightful - but the show is so delightful. And of course, the cold never bothered me anyway.

Disney on Ice is back at the Arena, with another chance to see the long-running Dream Big show which has wowed audiences since 2016.

There’s spectacular ice skating of course, as breathtaking as any Olympic figure skaters in action.

And the glittering costumes are rivalled only by those of the children in the audience, fancy-dressed in their favourite Disney outfits to come and watch the show.

A huge cast of international skaters play a constellation of characters straight from Disney’s most fabulous films: skaters spin and soar and there are gasp-out-loud landings, all set to the singalong soundtracks of the magical animated movies.

The dancers slice through the ice - and even fire - as flurries of snowflakes, rivers of flame, beautiful bubbles and twinkling fairy lights cast their spell over a sell-out crowd.

The show opens with Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, pirouettes perfectly into Tangled, and segues seamlessly into Cinderella, Aurora and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.

The brilliant Oscar-nominated song Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast is recreated by an ensemble of skaters dressed as cutlery cutting across the ice, swirling in dizzying formation around a larger-than-life loveable Lumiere.

Moana and Maui voyage across the oceans in a magically moving sailing boat, Ariel is reunited with Flounder in an adorable Little Mermaid segment, Miguel from Coco comes to life alongside Mickey, Minnie and Goofy, and Rapunzel and Flynn Rider set sail to see the floating lights.

It’s a whirlwind feast for the eyes, ears, and the imagination.

And it’s all the more magical in weather that would make Elsa feel at ease. Let’s just hope it’s not an eternal winter.
