FANS are set to go Christmas crackers for Joe Carnall Jnr and Friends this weekend – tickets are about to go on sale for his annual festive show.

And, as in previous years, the Milburn frontman and Reverend and the Makers bassist is promising fans an early present with big name friends to join him on stage, writes Graham Walker.

Joe Carnall Jnr & Friends, which is likely to sell out, returns to O2 Academy Sheffield on Friday, December 23, 2022 – tickets £20 in advance.

BUY TICKETS: Priority Tickets for O2 customers go on sale Saturday, October 1, at 6pm at priority.o2.co.uk/tickets and then Monday, October 3, 6pm, at o2academysheffield.co.uk and ticketmaster.co.uk.

As always, the show takes place on Christmas Eve Eve – December 23 – or #joeday as fans affectionately now call it.

This year it falls on a Friday night. So expect an incredible atmosphere and plenty of Christmas spirit, say venue bosses.

What started out as Joe and his acoustic guitar, back in 2010, has evolved into a riotous celebration of live music and for fans the show is now as much a traditional part of Christmas as the turkey and the tree.

Over the years, Joe has built somewhat of a reputation for huge singalongs; whether that be from tunes that he has penned over a successful 20-year career or by putting his own spin on classic crowd pleasers.

As for those famous friends who might join him – previous shows have including appearances by Tom Grennan, Self Esteem, Matt Bowman (Pigeon Detectives), Nick O'Malley (Arctic Monkeys), Milburn, Reverend & The Makers, Good Cop Bad Cop, Steve Edwards, Dave McCabe (The Zutons), Pete McKee...the list goes on.

Joe explained: ''I always try to do something memorable, to set each year apart from the last. Don't ask me exactly what mind you, not even I know who's going to play until the last minute. It depends who's back at their mums for Christmas dinner!"

Ticket prices have been frozen for the past three years. Joe added: “It seems greedy to be expecting more from people in such chaotic times, doesn't it?”
