As ex-Kasabian star set to play tiny Doncaster club, organisers hope for more big acts
Organsiers of an intimate gig by former Kasabian lead singer Tom Meighan have said they want to bring more big name stars to the venue.
Askern Miners Welfare Club will welcome Meighan on 27 February as part of his RAW solo tour, marking another major moment in the venue’s growing live music programme.
The show will see Meighan perform in an intimate, stripped-back format, focusing on raw vocals, acoustic arrangements and storytelling.
Known for his powerful live presence and years fronting one of Britain’s most successful rock bands, the performance offers local music fans a rare chance to see a high-profile artist up close in a community setting.

The booking continues a clear shift for Askern Miners Welfare Club, which has begun attracting nationally recognised acts to its stage.
A spokesperson said: “In December, the venue hosted Reverend and the Makers, a show that drew attention from across the area and proved there is strong demand for established artists performing outside traditional city venues.”
Organisers say the aim is to show that quality live music does not need to be limited to large arenas or city centres.
The spokesperson added: “By bringing well-known names into smaller, local spaces, the club is helping to build a stronger live music scene in Askern and the wider Doncaster area.”
The event is being hosted and promoted by the team behind DonnyFest, Doncaster’s independent music festival.
Having built a strong following through the festival, the DonnyFest team are now working to support year-round live music by partnering with local venues and bringing curated shows to different parts of the borough.
Speaking about the approach, organisers say expanding into venues like Askern Miners Welfare Club allows them to support grassroots spaces while giving audiences access to artists they might usually have to travel to see.
They have confirmed that more shows are already in development, with further acts expected to be announced in the coming months.
The spokesperson added: “The Tom Meighan show forms part of a wider push to strengthen Doncaster’s reputation as a live music destination, with organisers keen to work closely with community venues, promoters and artists to keep live music accessible and locally rooted.”
Tickets for Tom Meighan at Askern Miners Welfare Club on Friday 27 February 2026 are available now. Further details and booking information can be found via DonnyFest’s official channels and the venue’s website.
