RACING TIP OF THE DAY
Thursday 9th October
EMIRATES FLYER
Wolverhampton 7.20 WIN
Much the best race of the day takes place under the floodlights at Dunstall Park, where a new Conditions contest over 1m has attracted a nice field. Godolphin’s three-year-old colt must carry a 5lb penalty against seasoned opponents in the shape of Premio Loco and Solar Deity, but he’s an admirably consistent sort who has only been out of the first three in one of his ten starts -- and that was at Royal Ascot last year over a hopelessly inadequate trip. A fully established Group performer, he was second to the mighty Kingman and also in Redcar’s Two-Year-old Trophy as a juvenile before being placed in the UAE Derby and 2000 Guineas over the winter. This is first outing since March, but it represents a considerable drop in class and both his wins have come when fresh. Crucially, his exploits in Meydan also confirm his liking for the Tapeta all-weather surface, which was recently installed at Wolverhampton.
