Mark Cummins helped Tickhill to a good win over Wakefield Thornes.

The home side held their nerve with the ball to prevail by just five runs and claim a third league win of the season.

Alex Rowland’s men remain third bottom in the YCSPL Premier Division table but victory widened the gap between themselves and struggling Hallam and Wickersley.

Joe Billings (39) and Mark Cummins (37) anchored Tickhill’s innings. Tailender Josh Court then struck what turned out to be a vital 29 not out from 15 balls to get his side up to 188-7 from 50 overs.

High-flying Wakefield looked well set at 129-3 as Matthew Jordan (50) and James Rhodes (41) put on 88 for the fourth wicket.

But TIckhill took key wickets and put the squeeze on to restrict the visitors to 183-8. Royston Dias claimed 3-49.

Doncaster Town beat bottom side Wickersley by 53 runs at Town Fields.

Captain Bilal Anjam (53) and opener Jack Zuurbier (45) laid the foundations for Doncaster’s total of 208-9.

Usama Mir was also pushed up the order and smashed 38 off 20 balls, including four sixes.

The visitors never really looked like chasing down the total although Gareth Purshouse deserved credit for his unbeaten 61. Mir claimed 3-36 for Town.

Conisbrough’s struggles continued in the Championship as they lost by six wickets at home to Whiston Parish Church.

Warmsworth, who sit tenth in the table one place above Conisbrough, went down by five wickets at home to Rockingham Colliery, while seventh-placed Sprotbrough lost by six wickets at home to Aston Hall.

Doncaster Town B lead Division Two after Kirk Bennett inspired them to a 34-run victory at Wickersley.
