Defeats to high-flying Wakefield Thornes and Appleby Frodingham over the Bank Holiday weekend mean the 2019 champions have now lost five on the bounce in all competitions.

There was some encouragement in the fact that new leaders Appleby Frodingham lost eight wickets and limped to victory on Monday.

But Town’s struggles with the bat continued as they were bowled out for 106.

Bilal Anjam’s side made 170 against Wakefield on Saturday but the previous three games have seen Doncaster skittled for 119, 126 and 92.

They have lost six out of eight league games this season in the Premier Division of the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League more than any other team in the top flight, and their only victory so far came against bottom side Hallam.

Tickhill travel to Barnsley hoping to build on their 22-run win over Cawthorne on Monday.

Alex Rowland’s side bounced back from an emphatic 170-run defeat to Appleby Frodingham on Saturday, which saw them skittled for 64, to get the better of the Barnsley side in a close contest.

Joe Billings (62) and Chris Wood (57) came to the fore to help Tickhill post 185-5 before Cawthorne reached 163 all out in response. Rowland claimed 4-37 with the ball.
