Doncaster Phoenix beat the freezing weather and picked up a fourth win on the bounce to move into the top half of the Regional 1 North East table.

Phoenix scored seven tries as they beat bottom side West Bridgford 43-7 for a bonus-point victory at Castle Park.

Phoenix got the first score on the board after 12 minutes when their forwards took charge close to the West Bridgford line and flanker Fraser Leiper drove over for an unconverted try.

Hill was on the mark again just before half time following more forward pressure.

His second try was unconverted but gave Phoenix a healthy 17-0 lead at the interval.

The game was wrapped up early in the second half when, after some excellent handling by the Phoenix back line, McColl unselfishly put away left winger Patrick Selkirk for an unconverted try in the corner, which secured a bonus point.

Phoenix added to their lead minutes later when flanker Harry Williams touched down and fly-half Sam Brooke converted to make it 29-0.

West Bridgford grabbed a consolation try, which was converted, following an excellent chip and chase before Phoenix hit back through Matty Drennan.

The scrum-half scored his tenth try of the season before winger Keiron Phillips touched down with the last play of the game, with Brooke converting both tries.
