The 26-year-old centre has arrived from Championship rivals Jersey, becoming Knights’ second new signing of the summer.

Championship outfit Doncaster face a tricky task of building a new squad despite not knowing when the 2020/21 will start.

“Bodes’ vision for the club going forward was a key factor in my decision to sign,” Best told www.drfc.co.uk.

“He is looking to go with a fresher, younger squad and being a player with maybe a bit more experience than some other lads is a challenge that I’m excited for.

“I want to make an impact as a player, I like to create space for others and once we eventually get going I hope I can do this and lead a strong defensive line.

“From what Bodes has told me we’re going to be a young squad with lots of new faces, we’re going to be ambitious and hope to turn heads and challenge the so-called bigger teams.”

Knights, whose staff and players were placed on furlough in early April, now have 14 players contracted for next season.

Head coach Boden said: “I’m really pleased to be welcoming Mark to Doncaster.

“We feel he is the right fit for our environment, he’s competitive and tough but also has a very high skill set to match and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Knights shirt.”

Northern Irishman Best came through the ranks at Ulster.
