Doncaster-born Will Holling signs new deal with Doncaster Knights
Homegrown youngster Will Holling has signed a new two-year deal with Doncaster Knights.
The Doncaster-born hooker has enjoyed a breakthrough season, making seven appearances and scoring against Bedford Blues, Ealing Trailfinders and Nottingham.
Holling, 23, became the third graduate of Knights’ academy to sign a senior deal when he followed in the footsteps of Sam Jones and Sam Pocklington.
Head coach Steve Boden said: “Will Holling is growing game by game, he’s had a decent apprenticeship and now it’s his time to kick on and become a leader.
"With still plenty of development to go we’re really excited to see how far Will can go.”
Holling said: “As a Donny boy I’m very happy to be extending my time at the club.
"Personally I’m looking forward to building on the last two years here. We’ve had a good season this year and I’m hoping we can kick on again and see what we can achieve as a team next season.”
Fellow hooker George Roberts has also signed a new two-year deal.
The 23-year-old has shown good versatility since arriving from Welsh Premiership outfit RGC 1404 in the summer.
“George has been a great discovery, coming in pretty unknown from semi pro rugby,” said Boden. “We believe George has the drive and determined mindset to push on to a higher level.”
Meanwhile, back row Sam Graham scooped the Players’ Player and Coaches’ Player of the Year awards. Winger Kyle Evans was the Supporters’ Player of the Year.
