9. Gareth Taylor
2007/08 appearances: 14. Taylor was a regular for Rovers at the start of the season in the Championship but injury halted his progress and he was in and out of the side afterwards. The forward was loaned to Carlisle United. On his release in the summer of 2009, he moved to Wrexham under Dean Saunders. He retired in September 2011 and took up a coaching role at Manchester City, progressing through to take charge of the U18s. He was appointed the head coach of Manchester City Women on May 28, 2020. 10. Richie Wellens
2007/08 appearances: 49. One of the top performers of the Rovers squad of the time, Wellens remained with the club for the first season in the Championship before earning a £1m move to Leicester City. He was a stalwart for the Foxes for four years. He returned to Rovers following his release, initially signing a short term deal in the Championship, before signing more permanent terms. He remained until January 2016, when he joined Shrewsbury Town. After a five month spell, he moved to Salford City where he finished his playing career. He joined Oldham as a coach, becoming caretaker manager in September 2017 and taking the job permanently a month later. He was harshly dismissed at the end of the season when the troubled club were relegated. He became Swindon manager in November 2018 and currently has the Robins in the automatic promotion places. 11. Mark Wilson
2007/08 appearances: 33. The midfielder remained with Rovers until January 2012, when his contract was cancelled after finding opportunities limited in the 'experiment' season. He made more than 150 appearances for Rovers before joining Oxford United. He rejoined Rovers for the final two months of the 2012/13 season on non-contract terms but did not make an appearance. He moved to America to coach and co-founded a company which provides health data on players to clubs. Photo: Marie Caley
12. Martin Woods
2007/08 appearances: 16. The midfielder was released by Rovers at the end of the 12/13 campaign after six years but remained on non-contract terms and made five appearances the following season. He switched to Barnsley for the second half of the 13/14 campaign before returning to his native Scotland with Ross County. He returned to England with Shrewsbury in 2015 but left one month into the season to return to Ross. Spells with Partick Thistle and Dundee until his release last summer. Photo: Chris Bull
