Epworth’s Old Rectory is opening its doors to small parties and giving guided tours of what was the childhood home of John and Charles Wesley.

They were the brothers who formed a movement that went on to become the world-wide Methodist Church.

The candle-lit tours, with guides in period dress, will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6, starting at 7pm.

“The tours will be something very special,” said Gill Crawley, development manager at the Old Rectory, which is a Grade 1 listed building, an accredited museum and a registered charity.

Tickets for the tours cost £10 each and this includes light refreshments. It will consist of mince pies – made to an old recipe – and a non-alcoholic punch.

The tickets are available on 01427 872268. They can either be posted to a home address or collected on the night of one of the tours, which will be restricted to about ten individuals.
