It was put to Moore that patience in possession could be a virtue for his side as they tackle the tricky test of the non-league outfit.

While the Rovers boss agreed, he was quick to point out that ruthlessness in front of goal was his primary hope for this weekend.

Rovers dominated their clash with AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night but failed to turn pressure into goals and needed an injury time equaliser to secure a point.

“I want the good possession but I want some cutting edge with it,” he told the Free Press.

“We don’t just play the game on a possession basis, we play the game for the opportunities to try to score goals and win.

“We want that element where there’s a purpose to us and a cutting edge.

“That is what we work for and these are the aspects that we have been working towards.

“On Tuesday it was a good showing and we created opportunities but we were missing that final touch and the real cutting edge.

“I’ve taken all the points from it and we’ll learn.

“The boys deserve credit for keeping going to the end. For us as a young team that will stand us in good stead for the games we have coming up.”

Moore had been disappointed with the manner in which Rovers conceded two goals at AFC Wimbledon and has since examined the passages of play closely.

He is looking to iron out a few issues over the next couple of days in training.

“I saw lapses of concentration, switching off, not dealing with the ball when it came into the box,” he said.

“There were so many different phases where we needed to be better and we have to get better at.

“For the future going forward, we have to be better.

“We’ll look at that before this weekend and try to readdress a couple of those issues because I wasn’t happy with the goals conceded.”
