It was confirmed earlier this week that fans will not return to grounds until after the end of the regular season, meaning they will have spent an entire campaign locked out of matches.

Moore sympathises with the plight of supporters and is looking forward to seeing them return to the Keepmoat for next term.

But he says they have still had an important role to play this year, despite their physical absence.

“I can sympathise with fans, especially with things that have been happening with Doncaster Rovers over the course of this season,” Moore said.

“I would imagine the fans have been watching from the comfort of their homes but champing at the bit to get down to the Keepmoat or follow us on the road.

“They’ve not had the ability to do so but I would think it’s a welcome relief to hear the Prime Minister’s notes that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone needs to play their part if that is to be the case.

“What I will say to the fans is that myself and the players we feel their energy, their support to the team, the welcome messages we’ve received all season are being reciprocated back to them and we ask them to continue to play their part because they have a huge part to play.

“The main thing is to remain safe and well and I’m sure over the course of the months we’ll get to see them face to face and cheering us on again.

“It looks like that will be for the start of a new campaign but at least we’ve all got something to aim for.

“It’s a disappointment that we’ve not had them in this season but it’s welcome that if we all play our part we can be back to as normal as possible for the start of the new season.”

There is a possibility supporters could be allowed in to play-off matches, with crowds not permitted to return until May 17 at the earliest - nine days after the end of the regular League One season.
